LGC Forensics - Senior Computer Investigator - Oxfordshire

Job purpose:
To undertake the analysis of a wide range of computer systems supplied for forensic examination. Produce written reports and statements relating to this work for possible presentation in court

To work in accordance with best scientific and commercial practice to deliver, often complex, computer investigation related projects on time, within budget and to the appropriate quality

To work closely with the D&DF (Computers) Business Unit Manager to assist in the delivery of investigative services of an appropriate quality and timeliness

Key result areas:
• Carrying out digital investigation work for law enforcement agencies and commercial customers.
• Delivery of investigation work on time, within budget and to the appropriate quality.
• Producing witness statements/reports on cases and peer review similar for others
• Experience of giving accurate and understandable presentations of (sometimes complex) technical reports to customers and the Courts
• Experience of attending Courts to advise Counsel and give live evidence as appropriate
• Attend customer premises to advise and assist in seizure of equipment and on site acquisitions
• Mentor and coach junior members of the team

Candidate specification:
• Ideally, educated to degree level or equivalent with recognised qualifications in computer science or computer forensic investigation.
• Proven track record in forensic computer investigation. Demonstrating competence and expertise from initial imaging, analysis and giving evidence in Crown Court as an Expert.
• Good working knowledge of a wide range of operating systems including Microsoft, Mac, Linux, experience of working with networks and also the various forensic software tools available
• Excellent attention to detail
• High levels of concentration
• Good organisational skills
• High levels of personal resilience
• Ability to manage a flexible workload
• Ability to work in a forensic environment to the highest ethical standards
• Excellent oral and verbal communication skills
• High level of commercial awareness
• Willing to be flexible in their approach to working hours and travel to meet customers needs

The successful candidate will need to work effectively as part of a very busy team who provide analytical services. It is vital that the successful candidate is aware that much of the work is of a highly sensitive nature and requires discretion at all times.

It is a necessary requirement of this job that the successful applicant is eligible to obtain security clearance. This includes being resident in this country for three years or more. Those who cannot meet this requirement need not apply.

Similarly only those who have worked in computer forensics as an investigator for at least two years need apply.
