Can anyone recommend a company or agency in the Washington DC area that could use help after hours/weekends? I am a developer with 13 years of experience, looking to get into forensics.

Thanks,
-Richard

I'd suggest that you won't find many…perhaps a better approach would be to attempt some of the many challenges that are available online, or meet up with groups in your area with like interests (if you can't find one, start one)….

Lets try this from a different angle and see if we can get you pointed in the right way.

What skills specifically from your 13 years translate you into the world of CF?

I guess I might be stating the obvious on this part, but do you have TSC or some other?

Hi Armresl,

Thanks for the reply. I am studying for the EnCE, in addition I am an MCSE and like I said I have been a programmer for the past 13 years (.NET, php, javascript, MSSQL / MySQL). I currently do web and mobile app development. In the past I have done a lot of work with web spiders and screen scraping, and I also wrote & marketed a piece of child protection software for Windows.

I hoping to find a busy office or small consulting firm that could use an experienced IT professional to help out, perhaps with mundane tasks or processes that can't be automated. I am a quick learner and I have found that I can usually be helpful almost immediately. I would also be willing to assist with web or mobile app development to sweeten the deal.

I don't have a security clearance unfortunately.

Thanks again for your help with pointing me in the right direction. Any help is greatly appreciated.

-Richard

Have you tried to contact Bethesda PD, Montgomery County PD, or similar offices?

I think if you wrote a letter to a chief, with sufficient references they would let you do internship work.
