I told you one think. Everything software but not Mobiledit fo mobile recovery and investigantion. Try UFED/XRY/MPE+/Oxygen Forensic etc 😉

Mobiledit is software for extract logically data from mobile phone.
Phone support is limited and metod for extract data is sometimes horrible difficult.

He has clearly stated "keep costs down".
On the other hand I have some positive experiences. In same cases it has worked when Paraben or Oxygen haven't seen connected mobile.

This is just my opinion

I have MPE+ and as far as i tested, Mobiledit is better. Fastest connection and fast extraction. In logical extractions extracts more data
-> In some samsung android phones MPE+ does not find lots of contacts and SMS, already reported to support, months ago
-> MPE+ logical extraction of android devices does not extracts the files. Only videos and Photos of some folders. Mobiledit lists all files in a explorer tree.
-> MPE+ XLS and CSV reporting really bad.
-> MPE+ in SIM SMS pdf extraction not even shows the phone numbers of the sender and receiver. (They say that is not a bug!!!, reported at almost 3 months).

That is just somethings about MPE. (They already told me to feel free to use another tool, when i put this posts in forums.)

Mobiledit has some problems with files transfer and does not Physical extraction.

XRY and UFED is far better then any other tool.

How well do they work with broken devices, or devices which are not in their device database?

Hello,

Please seriously consider Katana Forensic's Lantern tool as well. Lantern v.4 runs around $745.00 per license, which is in the range of Mobiledit Forensic.

I also own Mobiledit Forensic and run both tools (Mobiledit and Lantern) on the same devices in my cases so that I can compare results.

As a side note, I have learned that one needs many tools in the mobile forensics space and have collected many along the way.

For example, I purchased SyncCell (http//www.synccell.com/) for $24.99 for a case involving an old Motorola flip-phone that none of my other tools would work on.

SyncCell was able to reveal the file and folder structure of the flip-phone and sure enough I found a "messages" folder that contained an "I" sub-folder and an "O" sub-folder from which I was able to recover deleted text messages; "I" equaled the inbox and "O" equaled the outbox.

SyncCell allowed me to extract the the "I" and "O" folders as .BIN files, which I then brought in to OSForensics. OSForensics' file viewer let me view the .BIN files as text and extract out the deleted text messages.

I was also able to use ProofFinder ($100.00) to process Blackberry backup files and extract out the results as PDF files on a recent case.

So, check the forums for different tools to arm your tool kit with.

LL
