Having never done this, forgive me if I am way off base in my thinking. So..

1. Can I send a court order to a cell phone company for a cell tower to collect all data between a given date time (about one hour).

2. Will this data contain the phone number (from/to) or will it be data that I could not connect to a given phone?

A short synopsis of why I am asking a crime has occurred at one location and the get away vehicle was located at another within an hour of the crime (burned to the ground). The time was just after midnight. My hopes are that a call was made by our bad guys within that hour in order to get picked up at the location of the burned up get away car.

The more I think about this the more I think if I get any data it will be A LOT to go through and likely not actual phone numbers but, as I said, I've not done this and it's only an idea for now.

Any one ever do this?

13 years ago I had a customer who received tapes of data (legally) from telecoms companies. These had all calls from phones, and where they went, and I think the mask data. There was a fairly standard record format. Details of which I have forgotten!

My part was to read the tapes, process the records and pick out required records for certain phone numbers. This often took hours rather than minutes due to the volume of data.

I do not believe in the US a judge will sign such order.

1. What you are asking for is a "tower dump". If you provide specific device info to the carrier, they can provide you the details both about the device and the tower data associated with that device. They will not provide you just a blanket "give me everything, and I will pick" data set.

2. most likely will contain connection details, but the report is different from carrier to carrier.
