Hello,
I am upgrading our forensic workstations, and have a couple of the Tableau T35689iu faceplates to go in them. I didn't get an internal USB3.0 card for the connection though.
Is there a specific model I should buy, or will any internal PCIe USB3.0 card do. I see Startech do some fairly cheap ones, but wondered if anyone had experienced issues with cheaper cards.
My FRED machine gave up the ghost, so the boss has given me some money to build some machines ourselves. I have £15K for 2 machines, so I don't want to scrimp on parts.
Many thanks,
Mark
Hello,
We recently upgraded to the same Tableau T3589iu writeblockers and have been experiencing issues with the speed when imaging USB devices. We have fitted Akasa USB 3.0 cards with superspeed ports. The tableau is connected to the internal port on this card.
Using FTK Imager, we get up to about 90mb/sec when imaging through SATA but this drops alot when imaging via USB. USB 3.0 devices are hitting speeds between USB 1.0 and USB 2.0 speeds.
I am curious as to the speeds you are getting?
Thanks
I have the same Writeblocker and I have it hooked up direct to my Motherboard USB 3.0 Ports.
I'm finding it doesn't like to read certain thumbdrives / external hard drives.
Others spin right up and read fine.
I believe its a windows 8.1 / chipset driver issue.
Other than that I'm very happy with these machines. (you do have to remove the front plate to the case if you want to plug in a 3.5 or 2.5 inch drive. We mostly use it for USB Externals so this isn't much of an issue.

before we had usb 3.0 natively on the mobo i was using the following SIIG Usb 3.0 PCI card. It worked like a charm
