Hey Guys,

I'm looking for a little clarification, as I'm not the most knowledgeable person with video metadata.

I have an MP4 video and I pulled its metadata using MediaInfo. When I look at the data, under the "Video" section, both the encoded date and tagged date say 6/10/2014 316 AM.

There's also an "Audio" section, and the encoded date says 6/7/2014 238 AM which was the actual time the video was taken (lines up with other case details). The audio tagged date also gives a date and time of 6/10/2014 316 AM.

Can someone please explain what's going on here? Why would the video and audio encoded dates be different? And as a side question, could someone please tell me the how tagged date differs from encoded date?

Thank you so much in advance, and happy new years.

Are you looking at the data on the original memory chip, or a copy of the file on PC?

What are the file system dates and times? (create and modified)

Is it possible the file has been viewed with any type of editor that could have changed something, rotated an image from landscape to portrait? This might affect the video stream, but not the audio stream.
