Let me be the first one to make a request - is there a way to turn off the right side vertical bar while in the forum? I really do not need to see the user info, latest jobs, blog while reading the forum - but most importantly it is taking away real estate.

Namely background is too whitish/glaring for my tired eyes, if I really-really want a suntan, I tend to go to the beach.

It'd be further enhanced if the design was unified across the site (though this may already be on the books?). Clicking on 'Articles' and 'Blog' from the main blue navigation bar at the top takes you to pages which could appear to be from a different source.
On the forum front I can no longer see the location of the poster or their post count. Both can be helpful. [edited to add: just realised that this info is available on hovering over the user name.
