OUR MOST WANTED: OFFICER – DIGITAL EVIDENCE RECOVERY, CYBER & FORENSICS

Serious criminals are seriously innovative. We never underestimate them. They’re on our most wanted list and now, so are you – but for an altogether more positive reason. Join SOCA as an Officer – Digital Evidence Recovery, Cyber & Forensics and you’ll help to stamp out everything from Class A drugs and major gun crime and from people smuggling and human trafficking to fraud, computer crime and money laundering.

Technology plays a greater part in our lives and that’s true of serious criminals too. It will be your role to participate in investigations and operations into network criminal activity – by carrying out the gathering of evidence, intelligence and preservation. From this you’ll build a knowledge of criminal activity and create a picture as to how this can be disrupted and degraded by the use of ICT. All activity is executed in line with relevant legislation and best practice and you’ll be expected to use your expertise to provide investigative support in the form of disclosure, exhibits, presentations and reports.

Previous digital forensic experience is essential, as is knowledge of at least two forensic tools of which one should be EnCase. Your analytical / data interpretation skills should be second-to-none and you should be happy working to tight deadlines within a complex environment. All applications need to meet our basic criteria of at least 5 GCSEs (including maths and English grade C or above) and 2 A levels or equivalent.

SOCA tackles serious organised crime that affects the UK and our citizens. We use traditional law enforcement methods as well as drawing on innovative approaches to prevent crimes from happening. We’re also as serious about our people as we are about stamping out crime. This means you’ll enjoy a range of benefits that include Civil Service Pension Scheme, 26 days’ holiday (to start), training and development opportunities, maternity and paternity leave, childcare voucher scheme and interest free season ticket loan.
