I'm an aspiring Computer Forensic Examiner in my senior year of college. I don't have any experience working with digital forensics in the private or public sector, my expertise is more closely associated with programming (C++, Java, Javascript, SQL, etc). My school did not provide me with many choices. Since I can't find an internship in this field while in undergrad, I was wondering if working through a decent priced masters' program would be a liable option and great start to try to get into digital forensics.

I was looking at the D4CS program at John Jay, and was wondering if it would be worth going into? I'd mainly like to work with a local law enforcement agency, and I know John Jay is good for Criminal Justice majors who are going to be officers. But is it good for DF?

If not, does anyone know of any good masters programs for DF that would help someone with no experience in the field yet?

The Masters of Science in Digital Forensics at the University of Central Florida is an excellent program. I am sure there are many good programs, this one worked well for me in terms of creating opportunity in the field. The instructors are very knowledgable, have relevant experience in the field, and you walk away with a solid theoretical and practical technical foundation to build on.

If you don't go with UCF, it is a good template to assess other programs.

Good Luck!

Scott
