Very nice ) , though (apart the lowering of the temperature) the key step seems to me like being

Then push the battery back and forth very quickly, such that it gets disconnected from the phone for less than 500ms.

I guess that finding a way to put "in parallel" another battery pack, then remove the original battery and disconnect/reconnect the "external" batttery through a timed switch/relais would be a neat improvement, at the moment one would need to exercise over and over to get the necessary swift movement and the right timing.

I read about this on BBC news this morning, almost want to freeze my phone just to give it a go.

Supposedly, a similar trick might work with RAM chips used in PC's.
