I have a Verizon LG Ally with a gesture lock on it. I have been trying everything to root this device to bypass the gesture lock so I can get into it. Nothing has worked so far.

Anyone have any success bypassing the gesture lock on one of these devices? Any suggestions for what I can try to get into this phone?

XRY can dump the phone even when it is locked with a password or pattern.

The only thing I can think of -if you don't have 'heavy machinery' like XRY- is to install CWM recovery on that device via fastboot [fastboot flash recovery nameOfRecovery.img > enter; got to have fastboot & device drivers installed] and flash a little patterns break tool via recovery which I will upload once you confirm you have CWMR installed. That's definitely worth a try.
Get Recovery from here Direct link clockworkmod

Don't you need an unlocked bootloader for that? I've seen conflicting things, but it looks like the LG Ally has a locked bootloader and unlocking it could wipe the data.

Thanks for the XRY suggestion. I've contacted them to see if they support the LG Ally and for a quote.

You do, absolutely. But this is more often the case than one would think. I found it's not uncommon to stumble over unlocked bootloaders, people do root their phone and customize it, especially older out-of-warranty-ones.
So, checking if bootloader has already been unlocked is certainly always worth a try if you haven't already done so.
