Does anyone out there have any suggestions for defensible social media collections other than X1 Social Discovery? Trying to find a tool that is reasonably priced but great for collecting Facebook and Twitter in particular.

Camtasia maybe? How about a certified copy of the page or profile from the ISP?

Try the tools from Afentis, they're reasonably priced and easy to use. They offer tools for the major sites. Check here for FB Afentis Facebook Tool

Are there any updates on this topic since the last post? My company currently uses X1 and I am wondering if there are better tools out there.

I have heard of the Afentis tools but never used them, how well do they perform?

Thanks

Assuming it is your client's Facebook profile you are preserving

Facebook's own archive is rich in interesting and useful evidence (communications, connections, IP access dates/times/locations, etc.

Assuming it is your client's Google account

https://myaccount.google.com/privacy?pli=1#takeout

Here one can create a downloadable archive of Gmail, Google +, etc, etc,

Does anyone have experience with Afentis forensic tools? Their website makes their tools sound great but I can't find any user reviews.

I've used the Afentis Forensic tool to gather a facebook account. All it does it use the built-in archive tool that facebook offers its members and slaps its logo on the html report on the zip facebook offers you. Not so good.
