Is there any free or open source tools to brute force the pin code? I couldn't identify the iOS version either. Need guidance here. Thank you

I think first you need to identify the iOS version as the cracking part isn't worth looking into unless you know it will work.

Be sure your phone has charge.

Install Libusb on a 32bit windows xp machine, iRecovery and a recent version of iTunes.

https://www.theiphonewiki.com/wiki/IRecovery You can often find windows builds of libusb bundled with iRecovery.

If you do not wish to fully install iTunes, explore the installer as a zip and install the apple support package for the recovery drivers.

Plug the phone in OFF cable already attached whilst holding in the home button. If you plug the cable in the pins will cause it to boot so either do it in one or plug it in, turn it off with the cable still in and attach it to the computer to allow drivers to install.

Run the command 'iRecovery -s' (In the directory you are storing iRecovery in)

Look up the iBoot chip firmware version and check internal iOS.

https://www.theiphonewiki.com/wiki/IBoot_(Bootloader)

Note If you power into DFU instead of Recovery mode you will not give you the iBoot firmware version, I believe it gives you the iBoot chip version which will not give you the FW revision which is what you need in this instance.

Hope this answers your question. I've not had any success with this past xp 32 or tried it on my mac as its a case of "If it aint broke don't fix it" but I'm sure its do'able.

We unlocked this model before using bruteforce hardware, but the iOS version was 7.1.2. It is very important to know the iOS version, even if it is an older device, if the iOS is up to date, bruteforce tries to unlock it might lead to disabled device or data loss depending on the previous phone settings. If data loss happens, it doesn't matter if you used branded hardware/software or something open source, be very careful there!

If you look on youtube there are a few very specific glitches whereby you can get into a phone book by starting to 'add' a new entry, looking at other entries with the 'add to existing' function and possibly view the gallery by 'adding' photo to the contact.

I won't go into it in detail here as there are many many videos on this (Not sure if the 4S is covered) I would highly HIGHLY HIGHLY recomend testing it on another device with the same os to get to grips with whatever you do.

I've been working in iOS forensics since the first iPhone and have seen glitches I can do others can't do and ones others can I do and I've never done (even seeing them done on the same phone in front of my face). Videos make it look far easier than it is some times

Hopeless since the SIRI is disabled (most of videos using SIRI) . I wonder how does the FBI crack the iPhone? Just a 4 digit number which block me from accessing the evidences x
