(I received this from Rob Lee last night and thought I'd pass it along to the rest of you)

Each local/state law enforcement professional is eligible to receive 1/2 off from any SANS Forensic training course.

The code is locallaw50

Code is good for 50% off on any Forensics course in any venue (Conference, Community, OnDemand, VLive, etc.)

The requirements for using the code are

1. You are an active duty State or Local Law Enforcement Professional.
2. or Professionals in support of State/Local Law Enforcement are eligible if the unit you support is contributing to the funding of your training.

This code will work for all forensic training events and locations. We have a full curriculum that covers everything from Computer Forensic Essentials to Hard Drive Recovery and Repair.

Check out http//computer-forensics.sans.org/course/ for a full listing of our eligible courses and our computer forensic curriculum.

More computer forensic information can be found daily on our blog https://blogs.sans.org/computer-forensics/

I have a serious love-hate relationship with SANS Forensics.

While I don't have a love-hate relationship, I do want to point out there is probably no better time since the rise of Communism, in terms of funding, for LE than post 9/11.

I have very much enjoyed working with LE, but in my own experience, many threats draw the attention of LE after having first been discovered in the private sector.

And the fact is that the major targets of both private and government hacking is financial markets which means that early detection by the private sector is key to the national security of many modern economies.

So enough with this distinction without a difference. LE and the private sector both have a legitimate interest in the best training and technology available and there should be no discrimination with respect to cost or opportunity.
