Hi,

Just a quick question to see if anyone can recommend any good CF books worth buying.
I am wanting to keep in touch with forensics whilst I am working in a different area and looking for opportunities in the forensics industry.

Any with a CD including demo software/example images etc would be handy in order to try some stuff out.

Cheers
Chris

Anything by Harlen Carvey (Windows Forensic Analysis, Windows Registry Analysis, Digital Forensics with Open Source Tools)

Real Digital Forensics is pretty good. It has a different take than other books. It guides you through pseudo-investigations.

Linux and Unix Forensics Analysis is so-so, but it is pretty much the only book on the subject.

The Android and iPhone books by Andrew Hoog are good, I've only read the iPhone book once through so far.

This doesn't have a demo CD but is a must have reference. File System Forensic Analysis by Brian Carrier. http//www.digital-evidence.org/index.html

Agreed. I would argue that this should be the first book you read.

For my forensics class I posted the recommended reading on my blog.. while not meeting all your requirements, there might be some interesting things in there..

I find anything by Brian Carrier to be very good, I have two books - cant remember the names, which I used in my MSc in Digi Forensics and they are both very practical, I think one of the ones I have is Real Digital Forensics which is pretty good..and I wish i could remember the rest!

Harlan Carvey's Windows Forensic Analysis is fantastic for the stuff that you'll actually use in the real world. If my lab was on fire and I could only rescue one printed item, that'd be it.

I just got a copy of Eoghan Casey's Digital Forensics and Investigation. Its a complication of Chapters by experts in the field on Topics from Windows Forensics. Mac Forensics, Unix Forensics, Network investigations ..etc..
Looks like a Great Read.. and reference..
