Course description
This Digital Forensics and System Security course is designed to provide a broad technical education in systems and networks with special emphasis in the area of digital forensics and system security.
The course lets students develop skills to detect, preserve, analyse and present digital evidence. It will provide students with a thorough understanding of security threats and vulnerabilities of systems and networks, sophisticated information and communications technologies and a grounding in other disciplines, notably the law and legal process.
Entry requirements
5 GCSEs at grade A-C and 200 Tariff points from 2 or more 6-unit awards including Mathematics or Physical Science or equivalent qualifications.

Course description
This course will provide students with a sound understanding of essential hardware and software systems, formats, protocols and standards. There is coverage of essential legislation relating to all aspects of computer-based information.
The central focus of the programme will be an in-depth coverage of the available tools and techniques investigating different types of computer-based information sources.
This course has two parts, the Taught Modules and Master Project. Successful completion of the taught modules, which involves eight single modules of study, leads to the award of postgraduate diploma and, if the appropriate performance is achieved, allows progression onto the masters project.
Entry requirements
To enter the course a student needs to have one of the following: a good Honours degree or an equivalent qualification, a relevant professional qualification of equivalent standard, e.g. BCS Professional Graduate Diploma, CEng, CIM Diploma, an unclassified degree plus at least two years further study or professional experience. If a student has no formal qualifications but has professional business or industrial experience, the university will consider his/her application on its merits.
