Digital Forensics Engineer

Basis Technology has an opening for an experienced software engineer fluent in C++ or Java to work in our digital forensics group. In this position, you will help to develop custom and commercial systems that can recover and search large amounts of data from hard drives, cell phones, and other storage devices. You will also be involved with research projects that examine new methods for investigating digital devices.

An ideal candidate for this position has software development experience, the desire to analyze and understand data formats, and the drive to figure out how things work. Experience with digital forensics, data recovery, or reverse engineering is a must. You will be involved with both designing new systems and figuring out how existing systems work.

This is a full-time position, available immediately. We are located in Cambridge, MA (near the Alewife T stop). The company offers a competitive salary and generous benefits package. We are an equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• US citizenship with the ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance.
• Computer Science degree or equivalent experience.
• Excellent Java or C++ programming skills.
• Knowledge of other languages such as Perl, python, XML, .NET, C# is a plus.
• Two to five years of software development experience on a variety of platforms.
• Experience with digital forensics, data recovery, or reverse engineering.
• Knowledge of linguistics, natural language processing or computational linguistics is desirable.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
