I have a query that I hope someone can give me advice on. I am currently in my first year of computer forensics. Due to unforseen personal circumstances it looks like I am unfortunately going to have to file for bankruptcy. I have spoken to my tutors who have advised me that this could have a problematic affect on my employability within the field. This as you can imagine is a serious blow and is causing me great concern. Does anyone know how badly I would be affected in the job market. I would be looking to graduate in 4 years from now. If it's too bad then it's not too late for me to switch over to one of the other disciplines such as software engineering. I wouldn't want to change as it's the forensics path that I want to follow. Any thoughts or comments would be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I can only supply information from my area -USA. I have two acquaintance that i have worked with in my career that have filed for bankruptcy but, can't seem to find a good job. They both have great skills and are good people but since they filed both come up short. I know for certain employers look at your credit history. This is for any job not just computer forensics.
Good luck.

I must concur with the previous poster than, at least in the US, any kind of financial irregularity (bankruptcy, defaults on loans, late payments), can affect your employment prospects.
I'm not sure, however, what privacy protections you have in the UK which might alter that.

You may find it difficult to pass financial parts of vetting checks for some work that could be a consideration as a great deal of work needs vetting of some sort.
