Hi

I was planning to skill up myself in Forensics tools and procedures. As per info available thru various web resources, Encase seems to be a good product to work upon. I wanted to enquire if we have any of the published books on Encase forensics which may help in giving a detailed insight into the product. I would appreciate ur valuable comments

Krishan,

Welcome to Forensic Focus.

Are there any commercially available books on EnCase? I'm only aware of the books Guidance give out during training courses but these aren't available for purchase otherwise (as far as I'm aware).

Perhaps someone can correct me if the above is incorrect?

Jamie

I am, of course, forgetting the online seminars provided by Guidance. Perhaps they're a good introduction to EnCase in lieu of other training aids (other than the courses themselves)?

Jamie

On the Guidance Software website you can request a trial version of the software. I did this and it arrived in less than a week. The trial version comes with a sample case on the CD. The sample case is all the software can access. (Thus the trial version) It has been very helpful getting me familiar with the software. The trial is fully functional on that one case, but limits the ability of learning how to image other drives and quite a few other things. Hope that helps.

Hi,

I could well be wrong but Encase do sell there manuals. I think you have to create a new account with them to get to their full range of products which included manuals.

Best of luck

I managed to get a copy of the encase users manual - i think just from the interent somewhere, which I dont think you need to pay for. It explains how to use it - perhaps that is a possibility?
