Fifth Vere Software Online Investigation Basic Webinar Offered This Week |
|
“Legal Issues with Online Investigation,” the fifth in a series of free webinars offered by Vere Software, will provide an overview of recent court decisions involving online investigations, with an emphasis on child exploitation crimes...
Richard Whidden, Executive Director and Senior Counsel of the National Law Center for Children and Families, will present the course. One key case he will discuss has to do not with child exploitation, but with steroids. “U.S. v. Comprehensive Drug Testing, Inc. describes forensic procedures relative to search and seizure of electronically stored evidence,” said Whidden.
In general, he added, “Much of the case law on electronic evidence comes from child pornography cases because those are what prosecutors take on. So investigators of many other crimes can take important information away from these cases.”
Todd Shipley, Vere Software president and CEO, said, “Legal issues exist for online investigations the same way they do for any other. This webinar will better prepare investigators for what prosecutors need, and how to go about meeting the standard for a higher burden of proof.”
