Course description
Computer forensics training begins with a solid knowledge of computers including operating systems, data storage, networking and more. You can build on your existing technical knowledge and skills and learn to apply this knowledge to computer crime investigation with an opportunity to:
- Study computer concepts including applications, hardware and software, and network technologies for both Windows and Unix operating systems
- Build your technical skills as you learn to understand and manage Information Technology (IT) projects
- Learn to communicate technical information through writing reader-friendly documents and presenting effective testimonies in court
- Discuss forensic accounting for financial crimes such as investigative research, interviewing techniques, and rules of evidence
- Explore high-tech digital crime including why people commit computer crimes, the setting of the crime stage, and legal aspects of computer forensics
Through lab work and your required professional internship, the Computer Forensics program at IADT - Chicago can help you acquire real-world skills such as:
- Managing a forensics project from start to finish
- Collecting, analyzing, recovering, and preserving forensic evidence
- Utilizing computer forensic software to perform forensic investigations
- Learning to work as part of a computer forensics team
- Exploring emerging technologies and current issues in computer forensics
