Course length
3 years full time (Sandwich: 4 years, including one year paid placements), part time 4 years+
Course description
Three levels, each 120 credits.
For Joint degree, you study each subject for 60 credits at each level.
Level 1 modules include:
- Logic
- Study Skills for Computing
- Introduction to Criminology
- Problem Solving for IT
- Introduction to the Internet
- Introduction to Programming
- Computer Hardware and Software Architecture
- Introduction to Computer Forensics
Level 2 modules include:
- Operating Systems
- Communications Networks
- Security in Computing
- Crime in Context
- Employment Skills for Computing
- Advanced Computer Forensics
Level 3 modules include:
- Final Year Project (double module with 30 credits)
- Current Developments
- Crime and Technology
Assessment
A variety of formative and summative assessments: individual/group course works, unseen examinations, multiple choice tests, and on-line programming plus essays and reports.
Placement
You have the opportunity to undertake an optional sandwich placement that can provide you with essential workplace skills.
Entry requirements

English Language and Mathematics GCSE at grade C or above (or equivalent) are also required. These requirements may be varied in individual cases. We consider people from a wide range of educational and academic backgrounds.
