Well i have finally decided to post on the forum.. I check them daily and i have been keeping an eye out for any opportunities/jobs around the country.

I have written off, emailed and been in contact with many companies in the country to try and get myself a placement and a good start to a much wanted career.

I am now starting to get very worried that there are no placements left out there.. am i right??

I know that some companies are not big enough to take on students for a year long placement and some are worried about the work and the security clearances etc.

If anyone knows of any companies looking for a student/trainee then please feel free to contact me and i will forward on my CV.

I would post my CV but i do not really want to make all my details public.

I hope to get some good replies with help/advice and i apologise about the length of the post..

Thank you,
Steven Bain

The main reason we don't take work placement students is to do with the type of work we do. A requirement of taking work from the police is that all our staff are security checked; this is a lengthy and expensive process. I'm afraid it's just not viable to go through this for such short-term employees.

I guess this is the case throughout most forensic companies and HTCUs.

htoxic834, your best bet is to write a letter to these companies instead of emails, sometimes they forget about emails, at least with letters it is in front of them and they will do something about it.

Jonathan, i completely agree with what you are saying. Why spend that money on someone for a year? not worth it and also there aer lots of checks to be done..

Just keep trying toxic834… I have managed to secure a placement which i am very happy at, but it took a lot of effort and time, just keep looking and dont give up. Good luck
