Guys,
After getting a tip off from Twitter I felt it best to make a post so you are all aware.
O2 seem to have altered the network requirements for connection and authentication of a users SIM card.
If you clone an O2/Tesco/Giff Gaff SIM card using a tool like XRY and insert this clone into an evidential phone (standard procedure for the majority) you might find the phone makes a full connection and is able to make and receive calls etc.
Just a heads up!
Can you post a link to your source for this please?
Thanks )
Tested it first hand this morning after seeing the comment on Twitter )
I'm guessing that you were able to connect to the network and make/receive calls with a cloned SIM card..?
Was it XRY you cloned with or something different..
A little more details would be interesting and helpful )
That is correct Adam, and yes, it was XRY in my tests.
We have tested 2 types of O2 SIM Cards both 2G and 3G with 2 different handsets - no signal or ability to speak to the network.
Hopefully that is a good sign that the network is getting back up to strength )
My tests were first thing this morning.
Re-used the same handset and clone card that earlier this morning and I have now failed to replicate the authentication.
It looks like the network might be functioning correctly again, at least as far as my test parameters show.

Please could you provide the link to the Twitter feed you read so that we can read it too?
Are you able to post the cloned list of all EF files from the original card and then selecting from the list the content of certain cloned EFs from the cloned card?
Can you confirm whether the clone was from an O2 GSM (icc) or 3G/GSM (uicc)
I agree that your tests could produce results that you have found, particularly where network is signalling A5/0 or a null value.
This is not the first time a cloned card when tested has been enabled to make and receive calls.
Thanks
Doug

Doug any chance of this info?
