Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have a close friend who's father past away recently, he has asked me to look at his fathers broken ipod to see if i can recover any of his fathers music.

Is there anyway i can recover the music via forensic software as it recognises over usb? The device that synced the music in the first place is long gone.

Thanks,

Joel

Just to be clear… are you talking about the first gen ipod with the round click wheel?
This site may help identify it if you are not sure

When you say it's "broken" what do you mean? Might help to know what is broken )

The first gen ipods with the click and scroll wheels had a harddrive in them if I am not mistaken.

Why do you need forensic software for this? If the songs are still on the drive, try CopyTrans Manager and see if that will let you bring the songs down.

I have a touchwheel one somewhere I can dig up if need be to test.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply,

Yes, its the brick one with the big scroll wheel ha. There's an issue with the main board, it quickly overheats when switched on and freezes. We did attempt to replace the board with an ebay replacement but no luck with that.

The software doesn't have to be forensically based i guess, just capable of retrieving the data. Ill give CopyTrans Manager a go and see if that works!

Thanks again.
