Hi all,

Thanks for approving me here. I'm hoping its possible one of you guys will be able to save my bacon in a way.

I updated my Iphone5 recently and in doing so lost text messages from one person I really needed keeping. Having phoned Apple they passed on your details and said someone here would be able to help me out.

I'm very thick when it comes to IT etc so please bare that in mind when replying.

I live in Newcastle Upon Tyne - England so if anyone is local to me I'd be garteful if someone could maybe call round and help me out or I'll come to you. If not then someone with an easy step by step guide would be awesome.

Thanks all,

I look forward to your replys!

Graeme.

If you synchronized your previous iPhone to a computer using iTunes, you may have a "mobile backup" of your lost text messages located within one of the mobile backups. Macroplant sells an inexpensive tool that can recover messages and other content from mobile backups.

Unallocated Clusters is right, the chances of recovery from the a backup is much greater and the easiest and simplest option, however if you have no backup, there are tools that will allow you to perform a File System Dump of the device. While this will not provide you deleted files, you may be able to recover deleted records from within an non-deleted file, such as sms.db (SQLite database file within an iPhone that contains SMS messages). Forensic software can perform a File System dump and hex editors or forensic analysis tools can be used to search/decode the data, however these tools are expensive so I would advise contacting a local data recovery provider for additional assistance.

Hope you find it & good luck!
