Has anyone installed FTK 5.6 on Windows 10 and if so, are there any issues?

i hate windows os, but i have to use it for all my forensic software. the only version i can tolerate is server 2012R2 and 2016 so far. ftk gave me a lot of trouble configuring mssql for database. postgresql too on w10. it works fine on server 2012r2.

5.6 is pretty out of date now and will ship with an old version of PostgreSQL. Current FTK 6.2.1 ships with PG 9.3.5.43 which is a decent, stable installer. You can next-next-finish on Win 10 and it'll play fine, but if you've got decent RAM, increase the heap size, keep your actual PGData somewhere fast and stable and that's about it.

MSSQL is another kettle of fish altogether. I wouldn't particularly recommend it for standalone workstation FTK deployments - it's overkill, takes far more system resources than is ideal, and can get upset with frequent shutdowns/restarts etc.

Big Lab installs are another issue altogether mind you.

source worked for AD for some years…
