Hello guys,
I'm newbies here. I'm working as personal assistant in my company. I want to ask a question.I always using company desktop or laptop to access or doing my work task. However, one day i need to do urgent task and i cannot come to the office. I am using my personal laptop to access my task. Then i also worried if other parties can hacked or get the information about my company or my customer personal information. Because in my opinion, i do not sure either my personal laptop were secured.
Please help and give me your ideas, suggestions and options.

1) If your company has a policy on personal devices or remote work follow it.
2) Do you have anti-virus software on your personal computer?
3) Is your personal computer up to date? Make sure you update Windows and your web browser and add-ons (e.g. Flash, Java, Siverlight).
4) Did you download confidential information?
5) Is your personal computer using full-disk encryption?

The chance of exposure is probably low but you could ultimately put your employer and yourself at risk if you're not following basic security practices.

Forensic Focus is not a free IT security advice platform.

According to you, that is.

If any other member, particularly an esteemed one like tracedf, is willing to provide such free IT security advice on the Forum, what do you propose?

Censoring the post?

Banning the member?

Or is it enough to just post a snarky, uncalled for, comment (like you just did) categorizing what is (or is not) the Forum without any particular authority backing up such a statement?

*clears throat*

But i do agree that there have been many irrelevant posts to the forum, including posts of google searches that miss the point of the thread, and people that need to see a shrink.

Rolf, I appreciate your efforts towards maintaining a high standard of discourse in the forums but our general policy is to give a fair degree of latitude in terms of subject matter - it's often the case that something interesting/useful forensically comes from what may appear initially to be a more security related discussion (although that's not to suggest that we would want those conversations to dominate, of course).

In all cases though, I do expect members to treat each other respectfully and with a degree of sensitivity (warmth, humour and general bonhomie would be nice but my expectations have been tempered by years of experience!) Please bear that in mind, especially when dealing with new members.

@all members - as ever, please report any concerns about forum use through the contact form. I will also be discussing this issue - i.e. current forum standards - with the site's senior editor, Scar, during our regular meeting next week - should you wish to drop me a line before then with any thoughts or concerns feel free to pm me, thank you.

Jamie

Jamie, in this forum you are above me, I accept your criticism and will be silent.
