Digital Forensic Specialist - London

Post Posted: Wed Jul 26, 2017 7:01 am

Digital Forensic Services are playing a greater role in policing than ever before. With sophisticated equipment, we have the means to secure convictions and fight crime across London. We’re now keen to add to our dedicated team. As a Digital Forensic Specialist, you’ll have a fascinating role, examining digital evidence. What’s more, you’ll have the chance to learn and progress in a unique organization.

We’ve changed the way our Digital, Cyber and Communications (DCC) Unit runs so it’s faster and more efficient. The next step is to grow the team in our Central Digital Forensic Laboratory. We’re looking for Specialists to examine digital devices – either Phones or Computers. Whichever area you tackle, you’ll be performing a critical role. Submissions will relate to serious crimes ranging from murder to cyber fraud. You’ll probe the device you’re given and undertake research and development. With your expertise, we’ll expand our capability and the Unit’s knowledge base. We’ll expect you to manage your time and participate in audits.

You will be a skilled technical expert within a team of Digital Forensic Specialists. As well as undertaking complex casework, you’ll be helping us improve our processes and techniques. For this, you’ll need a degree in a relevant technical subject (or equivalent) plus experience in either Computer or Phone forensics. Software coding skills (e.g. Python) and knowledge of cyber security threats would be an advantage. If you’re organized and good in a team, you could help us create a safer London.

To apply, please visit our website to download a role specific information pack and application form.

Completed applications must be returned by 16th August 2017.

Please note we are only able to review the first 100 applications received.

We view diversity as fundamental to our success. To tackle today’s complex policing challenges, we need a workforce made up from all of London’s communities. Applications from across the community are therefore essential
