The National Cyber Crime Unit (NCCU) is the UK lead for tackling the threat from cyber crime. For the first time, the UK has a single Unit with the responsibility and capability to lead the overall response, coordinate activity across a range of partners and provide specialist cyber support and expertise across law enforcement
NCCU uses specialist capabilities and expertise to support law enforcement partners across the UK and coordinate the entire response to cybercrime.

NCCU Operations
The NCCU Operations team leads the NCA’s response to target the top echelon of cyber criminals involved in sophisticated and high profile forms of cyber crime. Crime types typically include sophisticated network intrusions, the creation and distribution of malicious software and Denial of Service attacks
Operational activity is generated through a coordinated, intelligence led approach to dealing with cyber dependent crime; it is focused on the key cyber threats impacting on the UK, and tackling offenders and risks to the public which are beyond the capability or capacity of other law enforcement partners.
With specialised and dedicated training, our cyber investigators engage with UK and international law enforcement and industry partners to investigate cyber dependent crime at the most serious level. Using innovative technical and traditional methods of policing our teams of cyber experts work closely with intelligence officers and digital forensics specialists to secure evidence and build powerful cases to a judicial outcome. Each of our cyber cases is uniquely different and our teams use a combination or flexibility and tenacity to analyse and produce solutions to complex problems.
The post holder will possess a wide-ranging technical knowledge of cybercrime and investigation techniques, be confident, an excellent communicator and enjoy working in a multi-skilled organisation where our teams all work to their various specialisms towards a common goal. You will ensure that investigations are carried out thoroughly, professionally and expeditiously in accordance with Agency policy and within legislation. You will have the opportunity to carry out specialist roles within an operation and to continually develop your skills.
Applicants should hold a PIP2 qualification or PIP1 with equivalent experience.
LOCATION: NCCU has offices at three UK sites, London, North West and East Midlands.
SALARY: Salaries vary depending on the grade of the vacancy.
SECURITY CLEARANCE
To be considered, you will need to successfully complete SC clearance before commencing the role and for specified roles DV clearance within the first 12 months as part of your probation period.
You will also be required to undertake a mandatory pre-employment substance misuse test and achieve a satisfactory result.
