Hi all.
I'm trying to do a physical extraction of an Android device using Cellebrite but I keep getting the error
Cannot connect to phone (18)
One of the fixes suggested is as follows
To allow phone connection
Only security unlocked phones are supported.
Does this mean the phone has to be SIM unlocked as it's currently locked to a network? Or does the phone itself needed to be rooted first?
This is a test project so I can unlock the phone via the carrier if needed.
Did you follow all of the Cellebrite instructions such as turning on developer mode, turning on USB debugging, etc?
Yeah all settings defined by Cellebrite were set. Tested the device in a root and unrooted state but still the same error message is appearing.
What is the make and model of the device?
It's a Nexus 6P (H1512).
I was trying the extraction on UFED 4PC 5.1.0.564, couldn't acquire a physical image using that version. Updated software to 7.1.0.751 and it seems to be working now (when the phone is rooted). Haven't attempted the ADB extraction method yet.
All good for now, thanks.
