This role offers the opportunity for an experienced Digital Forensics professional to use their techincial expertise across varied and complex investigations of national importance.
The Competition and Markets Authroity (CMA) is one of the world’s top competition and consumers agencies. We investigate and take enforcement action where necessary to protect consumers, both within and outside the UK and to ensure markets work well for everybody. Previous cases have included taking enforcement action against drug firms accused of over-charging the NHS, investigating online ticket resale platforms over concerns they don’t give customers all the information they should, and carrying out a major study into the care homes industry. What we do really matters and makes a difference to people’s lives.
The Digital Forensics and Intelligence Service is a team of highly skilled professionals who bring their expertise to the investigation, collation, processing and analysis of digital material to support the investigation and enforcement work of the CMA.
The Principal Digital Forensics Officer role is a highly technical post requiring a high level of in-depth expertise within digital forensics. You will conduct digital forensics tasks in a professional and ethical manner to develop and present high quality and robust investigation reports. You will be working across all types of digital sources including networks, various o/s, mobile devices, cloud-based systems, and OSINT, and as a senior officer, you will supervise less experienced team members and allocate tasks where appropriate.
To be considered you must be able to evidence:
·Demonstrable experience in the use of digital forensic investigation and review tools, in particular EnCase or X-Ways, Cellebrite or Oxygen, and Nuix; and to have prepared technical forensic reports.
·Experience of working in a digital forensic team supporting law enforcement or regulation.
·Experience of scripting in python, SQL and/or Ruby.
·Experience of drafting, implementing and auditing digital forensics laboratory procedures.
·Experience in automating the collection of online data, and in providing bespoke visualisations, summaries and analysis of the collected data.
·Experience in software testing and validation.
