I am looking for a portable mobile acquisition solution. Something that can be run from an external hard drive (Similar to Pinpoint Lab's Harvester which acquires data from PCs). I've been doing a lot of research but haven't found any solutions yet that meet this criteria. Does anybody have any creative thoughts? Are there really no lightweight portable solutions for mobile acquisitions?

Thanks!

If I've read right, Oxygen Forensics made a logical acquisition tool which can be run from a microSD card

Perform logical data extractions without a cable connection using an SD card (Android 4.0+) [1]

I didn't test it yet, so I can't write much about usability details, but if somebody can give some more feedback, you are welcome to do it.

Mobile acquisition is not nearly as simple as computer based acquisition, especially considering the OS really doesnt want us to have access to a lot of files.

You can use Belkasoft Acquisition Tool or Magnet Acquire to make logical backups of iOS and Android devices, and that's about as lightweight as you're going to get.
But lightweight will also mean light data.

I thought the OP was asking for a solution where he wouldn't need a computer to make the acquisition, only the device itself.

In most of the cases when devices come with Android 7+ installed, usually you can create only logical and maybe filesystem dumps, even if you get the most powerful software solutions.

Creating physical dumps or decrypted filesystem dumps is getting harder and harder and usually special in-lab services are needed to resolve those tasks, I think Oxygen's acquisition tool running from a microSD is simply nice. If other mobile forensic vendors did similar solutions, feel free to comment about them.

Hello you can take a look at the DP 10 which was posted above at https://www.datapilot.com
This is a great hand held device for acquisitions and viewing the data on the spot in real time. If you have any question you can contact myself as we are the manufacture and sole source provider in the US.
