Don't worry
, I can bear the burden of the delusion.
Back to your blog article, if I get it right, what you are showing is that by capturing outgoing packets from your phone you surprisingly manage to find which IP addresses they are going to?
And that this approach is unexpectedly "generic" and as such it applies also to most or all other instant messaging apps?

Find out "Who" and "Where"
Yesterday a friend of mine Kirby came to me with a smartphone and she wanted me to do her a favor. She showed me some contacts in an app called "LINE". She wanted to know "who" and "where". She had conducted mobile forensics on suspect's phone and decide to focus on certain contacts. But usually the nickname is not the real name so she does not know what to do next.
It's a very interesting question. It occurs to me that we could "make friends" with those contacts. Don't get me wrong it's not social engineering. I'd like to show her a quick and easier way to get the answer she needs.
You guys could take a look at my blog to see what's going on.

Re: Find out "Who" and "Where"
Is that by any chance Kirby Nithercott from Peoria, IL?
I met her once, it must have been 2015 or 2016 at a magician convention in Bielefeld, in Germany, I am happy to know that she is well and that her great trick at guessing IP's is still going strong

I want Kirby to tell me what's the public ip assigned to her phone. She shows me what she got and the result matches the ip I found.

Hi Jacklaz,
Sorry to let you down. Kirby is just her nickname. How I wish she was Vanessa Kirby, the White Widow in Mission Impossible 6:Fallout~

Re: Find out "Who" and "Where"
Thank you for your article- I always learn from your articles.
I have a major client in China so maybe someday I will get to visit and meet you in person.
Currently, I simply aid my Chinese client in forensic imaging data that has to remain in China due to privacy laws.
My understanding is that it is against the law in China to take data out of the country that is “state secrets”. However, we take a more conservative approach and leave all data in China.
