Missing Excel metadata information

Post Posted: Feb 12, 20 17:16

What are the possible reasons for not being able to find any metadata for an excel document? Is it related to using cloud services or creating files in some way etc?

No further details on excel version or anything else is available. But finding reasons to rule out intentional deletion of metadata. Immediate help will be appreciated!!

What do you exactly mean by "Excel document"?

If you mean "a" .xlsx file, it is very possible that it is not actually an "Excel file", but rather a file created by *any* other tool capable of creating a file in the .xslx format, or converted/exported to that format by another software (local or "in cloud").

Since that format is essentially a bunch of .xml file inside a .zip archive, I wouldn't be surprised if a number of non-Excel programs make non-complete files.

Metadata (if I get it right) are in docProps/core.xml (if the file exists at all):
wiki.fileformat.com/sp...heet/xlsx/

What are the contents of that file? (if the file exists at all)
