Dead UFS readout possible?

we regularly recover data via chip-off from dead devices equipped with UFS memory (mainly Samsung S6/Edge)

However, I have two pending cases which have obviously dead controllers on the UFS and short out the reader when inserted (using NuProg-E).

For eMMCs we can recover data via NAND protocol with Rusolut VNR. Is there a known way to do the same on UFS chips?

Well, it can be done but it's gonna take really hard work.
As you're familiar with the direct connection to nand for eMMC with damaged or dead controllers using Rusolut then you should thought about it before, that they simulate the controller for those eMMCs in order to connect to nand and do data extraction.
What you need to do is the same but here there's no support for UFS chips although... you can do it manually.
The theory is that you can bring another chip with the exact same model as yours (preferably get two) then you'll scratch some layers until you see the controller. For that Rusolut made a great document on how to do so for eMMC and it's public on their site).
You're gonna connect the controller from new UFS to the nand of the one you wanna extract data from, then wire it manually to the adapter and get your job done.
