PST/MSG to PDF

Post Posted: May 28, 13 21:21

A client wants searches run over a PST and the results providing in PDFs, one PDF per relevant email. What's the best way to achieve this? How would attachments be dealt with? Is it possible in X-Ways Forensics or Nuix Proof Finder? I don't need any solution to be free, reasonably priced would be nice though. Thanks.

+1 for Intella

vound-software.com

The attachments can be handled a number of ways. With individual PDFs, I suggest just including them with the PDF, which Intella can do for you.

J

I would go down the Aid4Mail route, excellent app, and will benefit you in future

I just upgraded to Proof Finder 4.2.5. Assuming I've interpreted your requirements correctly then it does just what you need.

Admitedly I only tested it on one email so I don't know how it would pan out on a volume operation, but it saved the email as a PDF (and the original email in .msg format, there are other options)

$100AUS - if there are any licenses left. Or you maybe have it already?

Many thanks to all that replied. I looked into all of the suggestions.

pbobby, Bulldawg; Intella seems to do the task, but at $1000 for a 10GB license doesn't strike me as good value for money to do the single task that Proof Finder (which costs $100 for a 15GB license) apparently can't do. Thanks for your replies anyway.

Lance; Total Outlook Converter Pro looks to do the job and specifically states it'll also convert attachment into a separate folder. Free trial version before you need to commit too. However in testing it loaded my local Outlook PST but when I imported a test PST it was incorrectly shown as blank. The MessageExport for Outlook extension is really good (no support for Outlook 2013 though) has loads of configuration options, attachments are included in the converted PDF; all in all really impressive. DiscoveryAssistant appears interesting, though the investment size required is quite hefty. Couldn't test it though as am still waiting for their demo email key to arrive in my inbox. Strange how none your 3 suggestions came up in my Google searches.

NehwalSaina; Kernel for Outlook to PDF is really good. The conversion process is a little slow, but the output is fine, and attachments are handled by being placed into separate folders named after the email’s subject line. This is a great tool, especially as it's free.

Mitch; Aid4Mail is good but again, doesn't strike me as good value for money to do the single task; $1500 for the Aid4Mail eDiscovery Service which is the license I'd need.

Cults14; big fan of Proof Finder. Am running latest version which can batch export PDFs but it doesn't appear able to deal with the emails’ attachments.

Thanks all again.
