I have a CDMA phone with a user lock enabled. The phone is a CDMA Public Mobile Buzz (FCCID U46-M570A). With the lock code, I was still able to acquire the file system using Cellebrite UFED, by selecting the UMX MXE-635a profile. This file system extraction doesn't appear to be complete. I'm able to locate a phonebook, and what appears to be a call log. I haven't been able to locate texts. I believe I am able to see some partial messages, perhaps the preview portion when looking at the list of text messages. I also tried a few other tools without success, even tried hyperterminal to the modem but didn't get far with it.
I have a reference phone that I've been doing some testing on. I acquired the file system of the phone, then acquired it again with a known lock code. I then tried using kdiff on the file systems to identify the differences. It hit on a couple of files, but no where in there can I see anything that leads me to a lock code. I have tried searching the known lock code on my reference phone using all the encoding schemes available in Cellebrite PA with no luck. I also tried attempting an Encase search.
I'm wondering what my options are at this point. Has anyone dealt with this handset, or any simliar units? There isn't much online about this phone in the cellular forensic community.
