RECENT GRADUATES PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY: In order to be eligible for an appointment under the Pathways Recent Graduate Program you must meet the following requirements:

You must be a recent graduate who has completed, within the previous two years, an associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution such as an accredited technical or vocational school; a 2- or 4-year college or university; a graduate or professional school (e.g., law school, medical school); or a post-secondary home school curriculum. Note: Certificate program is defined as post-secondary education in a qualifying educational institution equal to at least one academic year of full-time study that is part of an accredited college-level, technical, trade, vocational, or business school curriculum.
Veterans who were precluded from applying due to their military service obligation begin their 2-year eligibility period upon release or discharge from active duty; however, eligibility for these veterans cannot exceed 6 years from the date on which the degree or certificate was obtained. The date of release or discharge from active duty should be later than the date the degree or certificate was obtained.
Have 3.0 out of 4.0 cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA).
The duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisory approval.

The agency may noncompetitively convert a Recent Graduate who is a U.S. Citizen to a term or permanent appointment in the competitive service, as long as the Recent Graduate successfully completes the OIG’s one year developmental program and meets the OPM Qualification Standards for the targeted occupational series. There is no guarantee for conversion. However, if converted the position may have a full-performance level of GS-14.

The duration of the Recent Graduate appointment is a trial period.

In this developmental position, the Recent Graduate will perform the following duties:

Assists in the administration of a closed forensic network and stand-alone systems.
Prepares forensic analysis reports and other written communications.
Assists in on-scene seizures and/or collections.
Assists investigators with information extracted from digital media.
Assists with preparation of legal processes such as preservation notices and subpoena language.
Testifies in Federal court regarding digital forensic services provided.

To qualify, you must meet all education, qualification and eligibility requirements by the closing date of this announcement. In addition to meeting the Recent Graduate eligibility, you must meet one of the following:

Minimum Qualification for the GS-09 level:

Education: 2 years of progressively higher level graduate, directly related, education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management OR a master's degree (or equivalent) that provided a minimum of 24 semesters hours in one or more fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. OR

Specialized Experience: 1 year equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service planning, coordinating and conducting digital forensics service assignments, preparing forensic analysis reports, investigative activity reports, and assisting in on-scene seizures. All IT-related responsibilities should demonstrate the following competencies: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication and problem solving. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. OR

Combination of Education and Experience: If you possess some, but not all, of the education or specialized experience described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education in excess of 18 hours (total semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify.

You MUST meet the minimum basic educational and/or work experience requirements for Information Technology positions in the Federal government.

Education completed in colleges or universities outside the United States may be used to meet the above requirements. You must provide acceptable documentation that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.


While there is no educational requirement for this position, you should refer to the Recent Graduates Program eligibility and qualification standards.
