As an Information Technology Specialist in the Office of Investigations, Technology Crimes Section (TCS), you will be responsible for the daily operation of the TCS forensic laboratory and all laboratory infrastructure. You will maintain (and upgrade) forensic software, operating systems, and other software used, and correct network software and hardware issues. You will identify solutions to TCS resource requirements, complete reporting requirements, and develop and provide guidance for policy and procedure.


To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the below competencies:

Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
You must also meet one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position being filled.

Examples of specialized experience at the GS-13 level includes experience preparing policies on technical issues, managing large data sets in a network environment, providing maintenance and recovery of data from UNIX, iOS, Windows, or other operating systems, and analyzing process issues in a network environment.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: Your online resume must demonstrate that you possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs/Competencies) (NOTE: Applicants need not prepare a written responses to these KSAs/competencies, unless asked in the online application):

1. Ability to prepare clear, concise and comprehensive written reports regarding a digital forensics laboratory.

2. Ability to operate and maintain digital forensics laboratory information management systems.

3. Knowledge of operation, maintenance and administration of various networked systems running common operating systems, forensic software and e-discovery software.

4. Skill in deciding current solutions and future technical needs of a digital laboratory.

5. Ability to solve problems in a digital laboratory environment.
