Dear friends,

I am looking for a masters degree in digital forensics (anywhere, because it's a scholarship but hopefully good and reputable university).

the problem is I don't have a bachelor degree on computer science (I come from accounting), and while searching for the program in forensicfocus/education tab, I've notice that most of them require a related bachelor degree.

the only one I found without that requirement is UCD in Dublin. They have a law enforcement program, and luckily I am one.

Do you guys know any other masters program elsewhere, w/o the need for bachelor in computer science. Or the one like UCD that only provide them for law enforcement.

Thank You.

The Defence Academy in the UK will do the MSc course without a prior Computer Science (or similar degree) and the degree is accredited by Cranfield University.

Hopefully you'll find this useful. This is a spreadsheet that I compiled for the IACIS boards. It has 3 main tabs at the bottom for the separate categories. Good luck )

I can't seem to be able to find the one in the UK DA, but I do find the one in cranfield. Is this what you mean?

I start my Masters Degree online with Champlain College based out of Burlington, Vermont in the States. I did not have a BA based in computers forensics. Mine was related to aviation. Now my job is based in Digital Forensics. I was accepted fairly quickly and it seems they have quite a reputable backing.

Yup, that's the one! If you look at the location information for the course it says "Shrivenham" which is the Defence Academy.
If you need any extra info, PM me.

Dear friends,

First of all thank you very much for your answers, it has been very helpful.

Thank you, I do have some question regarding online degree.

Currently I am still doing some research for my future Masters Degree, listing the pros and cons etc..
The problem is, I just realized that some masters program is actually a distance learning program. Students only needed to attend on workshop (once/twice a year) and written exam, while the lectures are pre-recorded. Having never attended a distance class, my question is as follow

1. Would the official documents be different than live classes and/or would it stated/shown that it is an online study? by official documents I meant Certificate of Attendance, Academic Transcript, Academic Statement, Diploma Supplement, Statement of Results, etc.

2. would there be any difference in quality (distance vs brick and mortar degree).

3. Is it true that student on that program will have difficulties in pursuing a doctorate degree because of the previous masters degree is an online study? (I know it's on the long run, but it is quite important)

I have sent an email to some of the campus asking these question, but still without any reply, hopefully you guys have had experience on taking distance class could help me.

Thank you guys for your answer.

Hi jtingkir
Regarding your questions on the UCD online degree.
We have 2 masters programs in this field. Our law enforcement MSc in Forensic Computing & Cybercrime Investigation is all online except for exams which are in classrooms here in Dublin or in the USA or Netherlands. We have had officers from 57 countries start this programme and currently 200 are on it, including from Indonesia. It has been running for 10 years and works well. There are a couple of non-EU students and their families living in Ireland for a year while they complete the course but they do not come to campus as there are no classroom lectures. It is a personal choice as a cultural experience and perhaps to get away from the office and focus on the study!

The official documents are no different from "normal" degrees. Some of our students have gone on to follow PhD studies in UCD.

The big advantage of distance learning for most of our students is that they can work while they study in the evenings and weekends. Their organisations like the fact that they are not absent in class for weeks on end. And costs are lower. Our programme has an excellent reputation for quality and I would be happy to connect you with a graduate.

Hope this helps!
