Job Description


Senior Digital Forensic Investigator
Protective Services Crime
Calder Park

We are looking to recruit a Senior Digital Forensic Investigator in the Digital Forensics unit which supports the investigation of serious crime. You will be responsible for assessing, setting and managing all levels of digital investigations utilising technical knowledge and investigative skills. You will have management of staff responsibilities and supervise the day to day operations of the unit. You may be required to attend live crime scenes and Magistrates search warrants to advise investigating officers and oversee activities of digital forensic staff.

The ideal candidate will come with intermediate knowledge and expertise of common operating systems and applications and an aptitude for problem solving, in a methodical and orderly manner.

You will be required to be educated to a degree level in a computer based discipline or significant experience and understanding of working in a Digital Forensic environment. You must complete the core courses in relation to the recovery and analysis of digital evidence, as specified by NPCC.

To be considered for this role you must also have previous supervisory/management experience.

Willingness and ability to undertake and successfully complete the Force Empty Hand Skills course. You should also have the working understanding of the Forensic examination of digital devices with experience of working on all crime types. Awareness and understanding of relevant Criminal Law and Procedures.

As a Full current UK/European driving licence holder, you will must have the willingness and ability to travel for business purposes and to work flexibly to suit the requirements of the department, which you must be prepared to participate in a weekend standby rota.

You must be willing to undergo regular Psychological Assessments.

This is the second time we have advertised this post, the previous occasion being in February. There were not many applicants the last time around, I think because we did not advertise widely.
