Screen Lock Disbled ?

Post Posted: Dec 08, 16 21:22

I have a Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL 5054N that I need to get into. The device has a 4 digit PIN which I have and would like to remove so that I can perform an extraction.

On the 'Chose screen lock screen" I have three options: Pattern, PIN, Password.

At the top of the screen I see "None", but I can't activate it. It says "Disabled by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage."

Any ideas as to what I might be able to do to remove the PIN?

PS Since originally posting this I checked with someone that stated he has seen the above before. He asked me if this was a corporate phone. To my knowledge it is not.

Thank You!

Ed,

It does sound like there is some "Mobile Device Management" software such as MobileIron in place on the phone which would mean the phone content is likely encrypted.

Could you ask the employer of the phone owner for the admin password???

I used KingRoot yesterday on an Alcatel 4037T One Touch Evolve 2 to successfully gain root access and then perform a full physical image so you might look at that once you get past the screen lock.

Does this phone got OTG ? If yes check if after entering few times incorrect code counter of phone not rising and there are no communicate about wiping data - if there are no you can easily use Bruteforce attack type for example using XPIN... attack for 4 PIN code will take less that 20 hours for all possible 10K combinations

Larry,
This guy hadn't had a job for years. It's a Metro PCS phone on T-Mobile. Cellebrite doesn't support this specific model, but I was able to get a generic Android download of the device.

Even though I obtained the information I'm still somewhat curious as to what specifically is keeping me from disabling the PIN?

As menitoned by Unallocated Cluster, its probably a form of data protection by the system admin.

I've seen this with corporate devices that disable certain options.
