Digital Forensic Analyst - Chicago, IL

We are a professional digital forensics consulting firm that engages with clients in civil, insurance and criminal cases throughout the USA.


Collection and analysis of various types if digital evidence from computers, servers, phones, tablets, local and network storage devices, cloud accounts, cameras, GPS units and other devices/locations.
Producing high quality, clear and accurate reports and/or statements
Qualify and testify as an expert witness in US state and federal courts.
Examining prosecution and or defense expert reports and providing consulting to attorneys as to their accuracy, meaning and relevancy.
Assisting in the development of direct and cross examination questions for opposing experts.
Providing training and speaking on the topic of digital forensics to attorneys and investigators.
Working as the lead examiner in civil and criminal cases, both for the defense and prosecution / plaintiff attorneys.
Ability and willingness to work odd hours as needed to meet the demands of particular cases.

Preferred Experience

Two or more years of experience as a lead examiner in digital forensics in private practice or in law enforcement.
Experience conducting examinations using EnCase, FTK, Cellebrite, Internet Evidence Finder, X1 Social Discovery, Lantern, Blacklight.
Experience collecting data from local devices and network devices using various collection hardware and software such as Forensic Talon, Paladin, EnCase Portable, MacQuisition and so on.
The ability to present findings in laymen’s terms both in writing and orally.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Access, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Advanced skills in preparing maps using various mapping applications such as Google Earth Professional.
Knowledge of radio propagation/planning methodologies and drive testing methods.
Prior experience as an expert witness including qualified court testimony.
Prior employment with a wireless carrier as an RF engineer or project management.
Prior employment in law enforcement.
A bachelor’s degree in a related field is desired but not required.
Certifications are desired but not required. If you join us, we will get you certified.

Skills and Abilities

Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Work independently with limited supervision to meet deadlines and targets.
Highly motivated to learn new skills, enhance technical knowledge and learn from experienced experts.
Work with clients directly to provide time estimates for cases.
Production and presentation of reports and statements with a sound basis to comply with the rules governing expert witness testimony in US state and federal courts.

Travel to various locations throughout the USA is required to attend court proceedings.
