Digital Forensic Specialist – Video & Evidence Presentation

Post Posted: Mon Jun 05, 2017 12:05 pm

With clear video evidence, we can create a safer city

Technology is playing an increasingly important role in bringing criminals to justice. That means we need more experts for our Digital, Cyber and Communications (DCC) unit. As a Digital Forensic Specialist in Video & Evidence Presentation, you’ll have an incredibly varied role with great career opportunities. Join us, and your work can help create a safer London for all.

As a Digital Forensic Specialist, you’ll be part of a small forensic team working within our Forensic Video Laboratory, where you’ll help officers make the most of the digital evidence that they’ve gathered. This could be images and video taken with a range of multimedia devices. The aim is to create the best possible product for court presentation. You will deliver regular training in computer-based presentation systems to non-technically qualified customers, therefore excellent communication skills are essential. You will anticipate demands for future technology within the laboratory and respond accordingly.

We’re looking for solid experience – perhaps with another police service or a high-tech crime unit. Whatever your background, you’ll be skilled in the forensic analysis of video on digital and analogue devices. Your expertise will be based on a technology-related degree (or equivalent) and in-depth knowledge of video technology. This will give you the credibility to support your team and guide senior officers. With experience in criminal investigations, you’ll be the ideal partner for our policing teams. Where necessary, you’ll appear in court yourself, providing expert testimony on digital video and images. As an authority in your field, you’ll give written statements and advice to senior officers and staff. With your drive to meet ISO 17025 standards, you’ll ensure that you provide an outstanding service.

Joining the Met opens the door to many opportunities: you could move between technical forensic departments and forge an exciting career path. More importantly, you’ll be making an impact on serious crime in London. Your work can help us bring dangerous criminals to justice.

Salary: £37,495 to £ 42,001 plus £3,216 location allowance. You will receive £37,495 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £42,001 will be via incremental progression.

Location: London, SE1
