Cranfield Forensic Institute (CFI) provides a Centre of Excellence for the application of science and technology to law enforcement particularly, through forensic science and engineering. The Digital Forensics Unit is part of the Cranfield Forensic Institute and is in a fast moving academic and practical arena, with sought after expertise and considerable credentials in the area of forensic computing. The MSc in Digital Forensics run by the Digital Forensics Unit was the first Digital Forensics course to gain full certification from GCHQ.

We are seeking two Lecturers in Digital Forensics. You will deliver cutting edge lectures and courses, derived from both academic research and real world consultancy. You will raise the profile and assist in the development of the group’s interests nationally and internationally.

Main Responsibilities include:
• Maintain the success of Digital Forensics MSc through delivery of lectures, seminars, practical’s and assessments in Forensic Computing and Computer Science.
• Design, develop and manage further modules, short courses and Masters programs in related areas
• Teach and examine courses within own subject area and specialism to all levels, i.e. masters and higher research degree students, through lectures, seminars and personal supervision.
• Supervise practical work where it is part of the course and advise students on techniques.
• Assist with the technical and laboratory facilities required to support the teaching of the Digital Forensics Unit.
• Supervise PhD and MSc students undertaking original research projects.
• Plan and carry out research and analysis in Digital Forensics and Computer Science, contributing to the advancement of the discipline and the discovery of new knowledge.

You will have a PhD (or nearing completion) in a related subject area. Preferably related to Digital Forensics, Data Science, Forensic Science, Computer Architecture, Computer Networks, Algorithms, or Computer Science.

You will have research experience together with some appropriate teaching experience within subject specialism or extensive case work/practitioner based Digital Forensics experience.

High level analytical capability together with extensive knowledge of at least one of: Big Data, Computer Architecture, File systems, Computer Networks, or computer forensic examination techniques are essential.

A successful track record of publishing research in the field and willingness and ability to travel and work overseas with national and international partners is required.
