Do you recognize the manufacturer and model of this cell phone?

Where and how would you charge it by microUSB in a prison?
Hi,
It looks like a GStar mini BM50 as seen in a better resolution here https://
Concerning the second point where to charge it … I asume that a prisoner that can transport this kind of phone in his b**t must be able to transport a charger like this one https://
Hope it helps …
Kind regards
Pierre

Yes ) , that's seemingly it.
The exact same phone "BM50" comes also marked "YamaYahoo" or simply has no branding at all, but the one in the photo seems GTStar.
They should be powered by a RDA8851A chip

Well, that is not a charger, it is a powerbank.
Who charges the charger? 😯
Do inmates have access to electricity (or to common batteries, like - say AA's for radio's or other lectronic allowed devices)?

Had several "b**t phones", they usually charge them from ceiling lamp just by cutting charger's socket pins and replacing them with wire, kinda "direct connect" )
most prison do not give 120v power access, but the inmates build battery banks from AA batteries that they can buy and are allowed to have in "walkman" type devices. the Devices are allowed but the battery bank are not. They would not even use the pre-built bank devices unless someone is smuggling them in and renting them. they would just use the AA banks they build.

Indeed. And this is especially correct given that the majority of the world's mains supplies operate at somewhere around 220/230V wink
As to where/how to charge, given the mention of Micro-USB, surely its just as easy to smuggle in/out a portable USB charging device, such as
There are a number available on the market which are no bigger than the phone really, so if the phone can be smuggled, then so can the charger.
Ben
But you also have to block the USB-ports on the TV sets they have in their chill room. No joke.

Good call!
All they would need then would be a USB-A to Micro-USB adapter and they could charge the phone. That's even smaller than a super-portable battery pack.
