Working on a Kyocera E6810 and am trying to get it to take in EDL mode. Phone is locked via pass-pattern. Phone is powered off and it appears to enter EDL mode, as indicated by the UFED continue prompt. I also noticed I cannot get the comms display to come up in pc communications with cable 523. Extraction errors out with the prompt to ensure the device is in debugging mode.

Is this normal for anyone else? What am I doing wrong.

If you want to confirm that the phone is actually going into EDL, check device manager and you should see "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008" or something similar listed under the the COM ports. If you're able to confirm it's actually in EDL mode and it's still not working, Cellebrite may not have a programmer for that specific model/HW ID.

If you're able to dig one up from the Internet, you may be able to load your own programmer. I haven't tested that device so I don't have one but you may be able to find your own. Not sure if Cellebrite allows you to load your own programmers but might be another option for you.

Thanks McMan for replying.
I gave that a go but it does not appear to be connecting for some reason on the PC. Cellebrite has an extraction for E6810, specifically for EDL; however, it prompts the debugging mode, which is weird to me because the device is obviously not in Android os mode. Although I cannot tell on the UFED the indication the comm port is open as it gives the notable connection tones. I am just wondering if there is something particular with this model, definitely could be me but the instructions for initiating this mode are pretty straight forward.

-Thanks

Hey DataMaxed,
I couldn’t understand if you could confirm the device was in EDL.
UFED offers the “Android Debug Console” utility that gives you a clear indication of successful EDL entry.

We can pretty much rule out a programmer problem, as this device is running one of the chipsets for which UFED uniquely offers a programmer bypassing exploit, so no programmer required, really.
I’d suggest contacting our technical support, if you havent done so already. They should be able to track down the issue with you.

The Android Debug Console gives unknown error -1 (easy to read the script where this error is echoed), which means, that the programmer (script) failed.

Still, if you use the eMMC factory software at NAND protocol level, or the Cellebrite bypassing the script method (since they implemented their own hack in it) the full info is read.

I can advice to approach Cellebrite Support on this issue!

DataMaxed, did you ever find a solution for this problem? I am running in to the same issue with this model of phone.
