We still provide the traditional services that got us started, but Avalon has evolved to offer a wide array of niche services including digital forensics, cyber security, and eDiscovery to a number of industries.

In 2016, Avalon formalized a long-time strategic partnership with highly respected DIGITS LLC, a digital forensics and cyber security company that provides high-end investigations and cyber security services to companies all over the United States. This partnership has further allowed Avalon to provide services to help clients overcome the constantly evolving challenges related to investigations, litigation, and network security. Our company has grown to over 140 team members in 6 offices across 3 states, serving clients all over the United States. At our core, we are problem solvers. We work hard to find solutions to our clients’ challenges, and continue to prove that no one can out-service our team.

Job Summary:

The Forensic Investigator is a client facing professional who is responsible for performing cyber security incident response, advanced data collections, forensic investigations, and expert testimony services to support Avalon’s clients’ needs. The Forensic Investigator works with other Investigators, Project Managers, and the Evidence Coordinator to ensure tasks are executed and delivered in a timely and professional matter.
Job Requirements:
Conduct a wide variety of forensic collections, preservations and digital investigations to identify and document relevant findings within reports and affidavits
Conduct forensic research and design solutions to meet forensic requirements
Testify to examination process, chain of custody, and findings
Work closely with project management and consulting personnel to determine best course of action to meet client requirements
Support cyber incident response
Perform quality assurance testing of deliverables
Travel up to 20% of the time may be required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed:

Strong technical experience in troubleshooting personal computers
A proficient understanding of file system types and hard disk drive structures
An advanced understanding of complex data collection and preservation principles
An advanced understanding of networking concepts and experience in working with networked systems
An advanced understanding of security appliances including but not limited to IDS, IPS, Firewall, and SIEM systems.
Knowledge and experience with standard computer forensic hardware/software, such as Encase, FTK, X-Ways, SMART, Helix, Cellebrite, F-Response, and other related hardware and software to examine encrypted information, cellphones, and PDAs.
Knowledge and experience with personal computers and server hardware, to include RAID and networked drive storage systems, cell phones/Blackberries, networks, and Microsoft Windows, Unix-based, and Mac operating systems.
Possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and valid US passport or be willing to expeditiously obtain a passport
Proficient written and oral professional communication skills. Ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical people in verbal and written communication
Ability to multi-task and balance multiple client projects and other responsibilities simultaneously
Ability to focus and concentrate on data review for long periods of time
