CHV vs. PIN

Post Posted: Apr 06, 09 14:12

I've been rolling this around in my head for a while:

Which is technically the more correct term when you're talking about a SIM card? Or are they interchangeable?

I seem to remember when leafing through the GSM standards documents regarding SIM cards they favour the term CHV?

"CHV" = Card-Holder Verification, a feature that is supported by a SIM. CHF *is* more descriptive of the function than "PIN," Personal Identification Number.

BTW:
"SIM" = Subscriber Identity Module. To call them "SIM cards" is a redundnacy. Don't fret, though, we all do it from time to time.
